Shang Gu is the head of the four real immortals in the ancient world and the only one with pure essence energy. Because of a trial 60,000 years ago, she chose to sacrifice herself and fell into a deep sleep. She returns with another identity - Qingchi Palace's High Immortal. Despite being a high immortal, her powers are weak. Along with the loss of her former identity and powers, she also loses her memories. However, her former lover Bai Jue never forgot about her. He was the one who willingly sacrificed his reincarnation for her eternal life, and who waited for her for 60,000 years. When his soul dissipated, she vows to wait for him forever.

Shang-Gu was born with the Power of Chaos, the highest power and the head of the four real immortals in the ancient world. She is the Master of Pilgrimage Hall and has a mischievous personality by being brought up by Tianqi. Despite being born with the Power of Chaos, she has no access to the power as she was born with weak divine veins which Zhi Yang requested Bai Jue's help to unlock. However after unleashing the power, it was found out that the God of Chaos would have to sacrificed herself to prevent the Tribulation of Chaos from destroying the world. Despite Bai Jue's pleading she sacrificed herself and died later on being reborn as Houchi.

The demon god and one of the four true gods. He is the master of the Hall of Taichu. He raised Shang-gu since Shang-Gu appeared on the Heaven and Earth platform. He is mischievous and playful. He has unrequited love for Shang-Gu. In order to prevent Shang-Gu from sacrificing herself, he stole the instruction feathers and planned to sacrificed himself and half of the realm instead by establishing the blood-destroying formation. However in the end Bai Jue was forced to kill him in order to stop the formation. In the post ancient world he was reborn as Jing Yuan.

One of the four true gods and master of Hall of Chaos. He has a mature and prudent personality, shouldering the responsibility of handling the affairs of the immortal world therefore neglecting the upbringing of Shang-Gu. In order to cope with the upcoming ascendant of Shang-Gu to receive the instruction feathers, he called upon Bai Jue to return to the god realm to help preparing Shang-Gu. After the catastrophe of the Tribulation of Chaos 60,000 years ago, he went into deep sleep guarding the now close god realm and only awaken when Shang-Gu open the god realm 60,000 years later.
